BAKER, Patrick M.
Country: USA
State: TN
Date Submitted: June 20, 2005
Notes:
The following was in the 1860 cs St. Clair Co., AL:
Patrick M. Baker, age 31, born TN wife Elizabeth age 28 b in GA Ch: James 11, Amanda 9, George 7, Nancy 5, Peter 4, Arminda 3 and William 1, all b in AL
Patrick enl in the Confederate Army Talladega AL in Sept 1863, captured in Nov 1863 at Missionary Ridge, Entered Rock Island POW Camp 9 Dec 1863. Enl in the USNavy Jan 1864 - guess the poor man just wanted out of Rock Island!!
I believe Patrick's and Bettie's son George married Cynthia Allen 1872. They had a son, Patric (no K) Reuben Baker. When Patric was 6 wks old George died in a jumping contest. A year or so later Cynthia md George's brother Pete. They had a dau, Mattie Lillian (md Lee Nix) b 1880 d 1952. Ca 1884 Cynthia died and Pete md Martha (I believe Goforth). They had other children Nellie and Bettie and Ada Lee (Eddy Lee) who md Albert Collins 1899.There may have been other children.
Patrick M. shows TN as his birthplace on the cs record, my gf Baker always said that his "grandpappy" (George) was an Irishman. I don't know.
The family seemed to move back and forth between Lincoln Co., TN and Madison Co., AL.
My g-gf was named Patric Reuben - Cynthia's father was Reuben Allen - if Patrick was Pete's father, it would make sense that he was named after both gfs.
I would love info on any of these people, but esp. on Patrick M. Baker.
