Kentucky, 1774-1924 Land
Records --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Land
records are important in genealogy research because they place an individual
in a specific location at a specific time. They are especially important
when researching ancestors who lived prior to the Civil War since most free
adult white males owned land at that time.

you traced your family tree back to European royalty? There’s nothing
unusual in that accomplishment; millions of present-day Americans and
others can find documented proof of royalty in their ancestry. However,

Research Trip
Tips -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When
I read Michael Neill's article of 10 August 2005, "Ready for the FHL?" I
went into panic mode. Am I ready for the FHL? Ouch, the answer is a
resounding "No."
But hey, I have plenty of time, right? Another
resounding "No." As I write this, I have exactly 19 days before
I...

Rural Cemetery
Expeditions -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My
daughter and I spent part of an early August afternoon visiting two rural
cemeteries. Our goal was to photograph several tombstones and search for
additional family members. As the cemeteries were within driving distance
of our home our trip was hastily planned, realistic for many of us, but not

provides some suggestions when planning a cemetery visit...
