information derives from a great variety of local sources including
cemeteries, churches, newspapers, and town records. Because it originated
with local sources, the information included here is especially valuable
and would otherwise be quite difficult to find.

Vital Records: Massachusetts, 1600s-1800s www.FreeGenealogyLookups.com/cd220.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The
depth and quality of information contained in Massachusetts vital records is
more significant than any other state. Although Massachusetts did
not develop a centralized system of collecting vital information until
1844, they did require that towns collect vital records (births and deaths)
very early on.

A Look at Middle Names www.FreeGenealogyLookups.com/rhonda041802.htm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Listen
to the names given to children born today and you will almost always find
that the child is given a middle name. Many of us assume that middle names
have always been given to children, but this is a misconception... -

Passenger Arrival Lists www.FreeGenealogyLookups.com/freea2376.htm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What
fires the imagination more than the image of our own immigrant ancestors
first setting foot on American soil? Your family's arrival in the United
States is an important part of your personal history. There may be a
passenger arrival list that shows your ancestor's name—and hopefully a lot
more about him or her.

Mementos From Mum's House www.FreeGenealogyLookups.com/tip9968_go.htm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My
mother, still going strong at almost 99, was always keen to pass on treasures
she'd kept from relatives, whether on her side of the family or my father's
side. The ones that created the most difficulty were beautiful pieces of lace
that had been kept from a special dress. Mum had kept them for many years,
carefully wrapped in tissue paper in a dark area.
These were given to me
and brought from Scotland to Australia where I live. What to do with such
lovely handiwork whilst preserving them for any future family
member?
These items are now encased in specially made frames in one
room of my house and greatly admired by folks interested in family history.
How nice it is to walk into this room and not see paintings or pictures
hanging on the wall, but relics from the family past. I've even added a few
things of my own so that the tradition will hopefully continue.
