Rhode Island Family Histories #1, 1600s-1800s www.freegenealogylookups.com/cd180.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------------- An
interesting feature of this database is that it includes source records from
at least fifteen early Rhode Island towns. Referencing approximately 46,000
individuals, the majority of the records included in this database
originate from the late 1600s to the late 1800s. What you can learn
about each listed individual varies according to the original record, but
this database offers a wide variety of important genealogical source
materials.
----------------------------------------------------------------------- ==>
English Origins of New England Families, 1500s-1800s www.freegenealogylookups.com/cd181.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Trace
your family history back to its English roots - possibly back to the 11th
century. Included here are some of the most sought-after
immigrant-origin articles published in The New England Historical and
Genealogical Register. These articles will be of interest to almost all
Americans with colonial heritage, and offer a wide variety of
difficult-to-locate source materials, including genealogies and vital
records.

New Jersey Family Histories #1, 1600s-1800s www.freegenealogylookups.com/cd182.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------------- What
you can learn about each listed individual varies, depending on the original
article. For the most part, this collection includes genealogies, cemetery
records, church records, and family Bible records. These records may
provide you with information such as the dates and locations of important
family events, as well as the names of the participants, witnesses, or
other family members.

New York State -- Their Ancestors and Descendants, Volumes I and II. These
books are comprised of articles that originally appeared in the

that just a person uneducated or usually mentally deficient?
A: Beginning in 1850, when the census began to record information
on everyone in the household, additional questions were asked in regard

Come Out of Your Cocoon www.freegenealogylookups.com/freea9876.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Last
week as I looked around the remnants of last year's gardens, I was dismayed
to say the least. I lost at least one rose bush, and it seems that many of
my perennials are either late or aren't coming back. I'm writing them off
as wimps. C'mon, this is the Midwest! This winter wasn't that bad!
But even my hardy herbs seem to be taking their time in...

In Praise of Library Personnel www.freegenealogylookups.com/freea9871.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------------- There
seems to be an observance of some sort every week throughout the year. Many
of them are, to me, yawners. However, this past week has been one of
those sparking observances at which every genealogist should sit up and
take notice. This is National Library Week and, without all those great
library personnel, we would be hard-pressed to locate many of the
resources that help advance our research.
Did you know there are
more than 117,000 libraries in the United States? In addition to
public...

Visit the Cemetery Office www.freegenealogylookups.com/tip9872_go.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I
agree with Sue Washburn's tip about asking for information in the cemetery
office, and wanted to add to it.
I recently visited Mt. Hope Cemetery in
Lansing, Michigan, and had a nice chat with a lovely, genealogy-friendly
woman there. She was able to pull out the original plot sale records for me,
which contained not only the information on who bought the plot and
when, but also if portions of the plot had been sold, given away, or
inherited by others. The records also showed who was buried in each of
the ten graves in the plot and the date of burial. She mentioned to me that
it was unusual for people to sell portions of their plots outside of
their families and suggested I do a little "digging" on some unfamiliar
names that were mixed in with...

Go Beyond Vitals in Newspapers www.freegenealogylookups.com/tip9877_go.htm ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Beyond
published birth, marriage, and death notices, newspaper collections are
great repositories of anecdotal information on people. Like census records,
though, the reader should be wary of any "facts" until you can
corroborate them yourself.
If you know or suspect that your ancestor
lived to a very old age, you may find write-ups about him or her in
the...
