Help for the Dead-end Blues
Eventually we all run into a dead end in our research, and although it may seem hopeless at times, it doesn't always have to be the end of the road. Below are some ideas for beating those "dead-end blues."
Review, Review, Review
Gather your files and go over them for items you may have missed. Check over home sources for clues you may have missed. Is there an engraving on the watch you inherited from grandma? Did you miss any clues in that old letter you found from your great grandmother? What about that old newspaper clipping? Clues can also be found on other records that you have found. The name of the minister whose name appears on the marriage license may lead to the church that holds other family records. Often when you review your records, you may find that something that you had forgotten or didn't have meaning before, has a new significance in light of more recent findings...
