This data set is a name index to New York in the Spanish-American War 1898, Part of the Report of the Adjutant-General of the State for 1900. This report lists the volunteers enlisted in the various New York military organizations during the Spanish-American War. In addition to the soldiers' names, this record may also list things such as rank, when enrolled, when and where mustered, death information, and other items relating to the regiments. Information contained in this index includes name of volunteer, age (if listed), state, page number on which he may be found in the original record (citation provided below), regiment, and year.

It is important to use the information provided in this index to locate your ancestor in the original record as the original record will likely provide more information than does this index. A copy of this report is available in book form at the Family History Library. However, it is also held at many other libraries throughout the country, especially in New York.
