As required by the Kansas-Nebraska Act that created the new territory, the Kansas government set about enumerating its
residents. This database is an index to the census performed in 1855. Each entry reveals the name of resident, district of
residence, and page number in the original document. Additionally, many records also provide the individuals previous state
of residence. Including the names of over 3000 persons, this collection can be a great aid to those seeking ancestors
from early Kansas.
